September 4, 2007 - Dallas, TX – When
Ron Sturgeon first entered the automotive business three decades ago, no one could have predicted that he would one day own the rental company with the nation’s largest lineup of luxury automobiles.
“I started off with a used car lot, repair business and salvage yard back in 1977,” says
Sturgeon, who last year launched
DFW Elite Auto Rental.com and its sister companies,
DFW Elite Car Club.com and
DFW Drive Your Dream Tours. “We have come a long way since then, but we’re still right down the street – and in the same city – as we were when we started.”
From the very beginning, Sturgeon – a completely self-taught businessperson – was determined to build his business into something exceptional. With hard work and plenty of ingenuity, he built his salvage yard business into among the largest in the Southeastern United States. In 1999,
Ford Motor Co. came calling and purchased his operation, which had grown to 150 employees and more than $15 million in annual sales.
Even after Ford’s purchase, Sturgeon continued pursuing his passion for cars, buying and selling luxury automobiles that he kept in one of his two climate-controlled garages at home – or in one of the storage facilities he owned. After watching others enter and fail in the
luxury auto rental business in Dallas/Fort Worth, he mapped out a solid strategy and entered the market one year ago.
During its first year,
DFW Elite Auto Rental.com expanded its fleet from 40 cars to nearly 60 luxury and exotic autos – the largest in the country. The
Dallas exotic rental agency added a coveted
Aston Martin V8 Vantage, an Audi R8, a pair of armored vehicles and a breathtaking 1986
Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible. As the fleet has grown, so has the buzz surrounding this one-of-a-kind company. The business has been the subject of stories on Dallas-area news programs and in newspapers and magazines such as
The Dallas Morning News, Seventeen,
D Magazine, Men’s Journal and Texas Journeys.
“A lot has changed about the auto industry since I first started,” Sturgeon notes. “In the
Dallas exotic car rental market, dealers come and go overnight. I think part of our success with
DFW Elite Auto Rental.com and the
luxury car club is due to our staying power. The rental and car club businesses might be fairly new, but we’ve been around in auto-related ventures for 30 years. We’re not going anywhere. That’s important for our customers to know.”
DFW Elite Auto Rental.com is headquartered at 5940 Eden in
Fort Worth, and serves
Houston,
San Antonio, and
Austin, as well as the DFW Metroplex with over 50 exotic and luxury cars, trucks and SUV’s. For more information and to see a complete inventory of available vehicles, visit
